The Highlander is a family gastro pub located between Ponteland & Belsay, offering a relaxed dining experience. With a welcoming bar specialising in local beers and fine wines. We serve flavoursome home cooked food and our seasonal menu celebrates local Northumbrian produce.
Kitchen Hours: 12pm-9pm Thursday – Saturday and 12-7pm on Sunday
If you’re looking to enjoy delicious pub food, a fabulous selection of real ales and wines, and a hearty dose of traditional Northumbrian hospitality, The Highlander certainly won’t disappoint. All served up in stylish but cosy surroundings, alongside dog friendly areas and our new beer garden.
Situated just outside Ponteland towards the historic village of Belsay, our former coaching inn dates back to the 1700’s. The building is steeped in heritage and has been empathetically restored for your family and friends to enjoy.
Personally I’ve been coming to this pub for well over 30 years. The pub has recently been taken over , had a refurb and is modern and welcoming inside and out.

Excellent, I have already recommended to family and friends. It is the first time we have been back since it sadly closed many years ago, it was definitely worth the wait! Lovely service, ambience and most importantly the Sunday lunch including dessert was excellent. It finished off an excellent 35th Wedding anniversary weekend. Thank you It was a lovely end.
