The Highlander is a family gastro pub located between Ponteland & Belsay, offering a relaxed dining experience. We serve flavoursome home cooked food and our seasonal menu celebrates local Northumbrian produce. View our weekly offers below.

If you’re looking to enjoy delicious pub food, a fabulous selection of real ales and wines, and a hearty dose of traditional Northumbrian hospitality, The Highlander certainly won’t disappoint. All served up in stylish but cosy surroundings, alongside dog friendly areas and our new beer garden.
Situated just outside Ponteland towards the historic village of Belsay, our former coaching inn dates back to the 1700’s. The building is steeped in heritage and has been empathetically restored for your family and friends to enjoy.
This is the first time we have visited since the chang of owner. We had a lovely meal here, make sure that you are hungry as the potions are large even the small meals. You would be advised to book as it can get busy at times. The refit of the place is very tasteful

Personally I’ve been coming to this pub for well over 30 years. The pub has recently been taken over , had a refurb and is modern and welcoming inside and out.
